Chi, The Spa

In traditional Chinese philosophy, "chi" or "qi" is the universal life force that governs wellbeing and personal vitality. To maintain good health, it is believed that "chi" must flow freely within the body. Chi, The Spa at the Shangri-La Singapore and Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, is a sanctuary built on this principle, offering holistic treatments inspired by time-honoured Asian traditions.

Designed to help treat jet lag and fight insomnia, the Healing Himalayan Hot Salt Stone Massage is guaranteed to melt away stress and tension with the use of heated natural salt stone crystals. Considered the purest and most beneficial salt on earth, it contains 84 naturally-occurring minerals and salts. Trust us when we say you’ll leave feeling like you’re walking on a cloud.

Spa Esprit

Various Locations

Spa Esprit

Spa Esprit is shaking up your standard massage experience with their Super Vibrator package. The vibe is a little edgier than a typical pamper sesh, with jeweled tones, wall murals and poppy artwork dotted around the room, but the experience is sure to take you to all new levels of bliss.

First a special device called an Emotional Positioning System reads your energy and tracks where there are potential weaknesses. Based on that reading you’ll be prescribed a customised essential oil blend which your therapist will apply during a 90-minute Hawaiian style Lomi Lomi massage. You’ll then be coaxed into a meditative state with sounds from Tingsha cymbals and the Tibetan singing bowl.

Ikeda Spa

787 Bukit Timah Road

Ikeda Spa
Image credit: Ikeda Spa | Supplied

Specialising in the Japanese art of healing, Ikeda Spa offers a range of massages in Singapore that have been practised for centuries in order to help restore balance, harmony and health.

The Ganbanyoku Detox Massage is firmly rooted in the Five Element Theory of traditional Japanese medicine, where wood, fire, earth, metal and water are balanced to alleviate aches and pain. Couple this with essential oils and a mixture of eastern and western massage techniques and you know you’re in for a treat. To help the essential oils to fully work their magic, the treatment is performed on a special heated rock bed, also known as ganbanyoku. Although Ganbanyoku means 'stone bathing' in Japanese, it is not technically a bath because there is no water involved. Instead, when heated to 40°C, the Hakone volcanic rocks bathe your skin in infrared rays and negative ions to help accelerate your metabolism and boost your immune system.

Various Locations

Natureland
